South Sudan, the world’s youngest nation, is in a state of humanitarian crisis and conflict. Its visa process is difficult, but the real challenge lies in the on-the-ground security vacuum. The U.S. and other governments issue "Do Not Travel" advisories due to civil unrest, armed conflict, and high crime rates. There is virtually no tourist infrastructure, making travel unsafe and requiring extensive security arrangements.
