While often included in your airfare, some countries still levy a separate "departure tax" payable in cash at the airport before you can leave. This can be a nasty surprise if you've spent all your local currency. The Ingenious Part: It’s a last-minute cash grab when you're least expecting it. Sidestep it: Research if your destination countries have such a tax. If so, set aside the required local currency before heading to the airport for your departure.
