Algeria, despite its vast Saharan landscapes and Roman ruins, presents a difficult welcome for tourists due to complex visa procedures, strict security protocols, and limited tourism infrastructure. Foreign visitors may find interactions guarded, especially outside major cities, due to lingering security concerns. The lack of widespread English, coupled with a highly bureaucratic system for everything from accommodation to travel permits, can make independent exploration frustrating.
