For an off-the-beaten-path Costa Rica experience, head to Isla Bolaños National Park, a small and unspoiled island in the Pacific. Nicknamed Costa Rica’s “Mini-Galápagos”, this protected wildlife refuge is home to rare seabirds, pristine white-sand beaches, and some of the best snorkeling in the country. Located near Bahía Salinas, Isla Bolaños is cheap to visit and remains blissfully crowd-free, making it one of the most affordable and untouched coastal destinations in Costa Rica.
