Nestled on Middle Island off the coast of Western Australia, Lake Hillier is a vibrant pink lake that looks almost too surreal to be real. Unlike seasonal pink lakes, Hillier's color remains strikingly bubblegum pink all year round, thanks to high salinity levels and a unique species of salt-loving algae and bacteria that produce the pink hue. The contrast between the cotton-candy-colored water, the deep blue of the surrounding ocean, and the lush green forest makes it one of the most visually stunning natural wonders in the world. Even more astonishing, despite its intense hue, the water is completely safe to swim in. Whether viewed from above or up close, Lake Hillier feels like a slice of an alien world splashed with the colors of a dream.
