50 Abandoned Hotels That Are Frozen in Time
42. Hotel Kaaterskill – Catskill Mountains, New York, USA

In the late 1800s, Hotel Kaaterskill was a mountaintop marvel, one of the largest hotels in the world. Perched above the Hudson Valley, it hosted presidents and artists and was celebrated as the crown jewel of American resort culture. But the isolated location made access difficult, and fires repeatedly struck. After a devastating blaze in 1924, the ruins were left to nature. Today, mossy stone steps and foundation walls are all that remain, cloaked in forest. Hikers stumble across the ghost of Gilded Age luxury, its grandeur reduced to scattered stones and stories passed down like Appalachian folklore.
