50 Abandoned Hotels That Are Frozen in Time
35. Canfranc Station Hotel – Spain: Grandeur by the Tracks

Adjacent to the colossal, ornate Canfranc International Railway Station in the Spanish Pyrenees, this accompanying hotel shared its ambitious, short-lived glory. Opened in 1928, the station and hotel were part of a key Franco-Spanish border crossing. However, political tensions, war, and a bridge demolition in 1970 led to the railway line's closure and the complex's gradual abandonment. While the station itself is undergoing restoration, parts of the attached hotel remain a haunting shell, its elegant façade hinting at the luxurious stopover point it once provided for travelers journeying through the dramatic mountain landscape.
