Imagine an entire city frozen in 1974. Varosha, the southern quarter of Famagusta, was once Cyprus's premier tourist destination, a glamorous riviera playground dotted with luxury hotels lining golden beaches. But during the Turkish invasion of Cyprus, the area was hastily evacuated and subsequently fenced off by the military. It has remained a ghost town ever since, untouched except by time and nature. High-rise hotels crumble silently, dealerships contain vintage cars coated in dust, and window displays showcase fashions from half a century ago—a surreal, large-scale time capsule accessible only through barbed wire.
