On Brazil’s Costa Verde, Paraty is a colonial jewel bursting with clean white facades trimmed in deep indigo, golden ochre, and emerald green. Originally a gold port, it now exudes artistic energy, framed by lush rainforest and cobbled streets. During the annual literary festival (FLIP), the town’s colors are amplified with installations, parades, and projection art. Even its churches are trimmed in candy colors, and the sea-level streets flood during high tides, creating reflective pools that double the town’s palette. In Paraty, color is both canvas and mirror.
