Gazing down from space, Mauritania’s Richat Structure, or "Eye of the Sahara," resembles a colossal, multi-ringed bullseye or an ancient alien landing site. This deeply eroded geological dome, nearly 50 kilometers across, presents concentric circles of sedimentary rock in the otherwise featureless desert. Its origin was once a mystery, initially thought to be an impact crater, but now believed to be a symmetrical uplift eroded over eons. Its sheer scale and perfect circularity against the vast emptiness make it an undeniably otherworldly landmark, a true sci-fi vista etched into our planet.
