The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is plagued by ongoing armed conflicts, pervasive violent crime, and significant health risks (including Ebola and other infectious diseases). Numerous armed groups operate throughout the country, and foreign nationals face high risks of kidnapping, robbery, and violence. Infrastructure is poor, and emergency services are unreliable. The U.S. government maintains a "Level 4: Do Not Travel" advisory for much of the country. Travel to the DRC is strongly advised against due to the severe and widespread dangers.
