Unique for its location on Bois Blanc Island in the Detroit River, Boblo Island was accessible only by ferry from both Canada and the US. Operating from 1898 to 1993, it featured classic rides, including two beloved wooden roller coasters and a Space Needle observation tower. After closure, the island saw gradual decay alongside slow redevelopment efforts. Images capture the ghostly remnants of rides like the Ferris wheel and dance hall juxtaposed against encroaching nature and new construction, telling a story of transition and forgotten international leisure.
