Operational for a century (1878-1978), Chippewa Lake Park is a classic example of slow, haunting decay. Unlike parks quickly demolished, Chippewa Lake stood relatively untouched for decades, allowing nature to fully reclaim it. Rides like the wooden roller coaster, Ferris wheel (famously captured with trees growing through it), and ballroom became iconic subjects for urban explorers. Its long period of abandonment created an exceptionally eerie atmosphere, perfectly preserving the ghostly skeletons of early 20th-century amusement. Though parts have been cleared recently, its legacy as a beautifully decayed relic persists in photos.
