Unlike most ghost towns that faded due to natural disasters or economic collapse, Kłomino was abandoned due to geopolitical shifts. Originally built by Nazi Germany as a military garrison, the town was later used by the Soviet Union to house thousands of Red Army troops. After the fall of the USSR, the town was entirely abandoned, leaving behind empty, crumbling apartment blocks and overgrown streets.
