Once a bustling pilgrimage and trade town on the southernmost tip of India, Dhanushkodi was completely wiped out in 1964 by a devastating cyclone. The entire town was declared uninhabitable after the storm drowned railways, temples, and homes under massive tidal waves. Today, Dhanushkodi is a surreal ghost town where crumbling churches, abandoned railway stations, and broken homes sit against the backdrop of a stunningly blue ocean. The road leading to Dhanushkodi is often described as a road to nowhere, surrounded by nothing but the vast sea on either side, adding to its eerie, apocalyptic charm.
