Virginia Tech football has had some great seasons, but nothing compares to the atmosphere of Lane Stadium on game day. Known for its electrifying pregame entrance, where the entire stadium shakes to Metallica’s "Enter Sandman", Lane Stadium is one of the most intimidating places for visiting teams. Opened in 1965 and expanded multiple times, it sits at 2,057 feet above sea level, making it the highest-elevation stadium in the eastern United States. The roaring crowd, wild night games, and the sheer energy of the Hokie faithful make Lane Stadium an experience unlike any other—even when the team isn’t in contention for national titles.
